Tim Pastore was born and raised in Wakefield MA, where we currently live and have our shop/studio. Tim has always had a focus on details from a very young age. As a kid one of his favorite hobbies was to disassemble electronics (TV sets, radios, etc) in order to figure out how things worked. Tim's parents always encouraged creativity and early on taught Tim how to be handy, by letting him help them build a beautiful cottage in Maine from the ground up. At age 13, Tim and his dad (Carmen) started to rebuilt a 1965 Ford Mustang. The project lasted approximately 3 years and it taught Tim how to to turn his dreams/visions into reality. What started as a father-son bonding is now a treasure enjoyed by our family, specially our son Lucas.
In 1993, Tim went to WPI where we first met and both graduated with Mechanical Engineering degrees. We got married a year after graduation and bought our house (an antique c. 1735) in 1999. Tim's interest in woodworking evolved out our home's renovation (see photos on facebook). Tim's first fine woodworking project started in 2007, and he has been challenging himself ever since. Many of his pieces are smaller in size and very intricate in design. We work together on the concept and designs using principles that straddle the artistic and mathematical worlds. For example, "The Golden Mean" and the "Fibonacci" design theories can be found in almost every project. Some recent works also include aspects from the "Hip to Waist Ratio" design principle. This ratio can been seen on the sides of the Shoji Screen Jewelry Box which was displayed at the 2009 San Diego "Design In Wood" juried show and the profile of the Brazilian Curves Pen. Tim is a member of the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society Woodworkers Guild, the Association of Revolutionary Turners and the American Association of Woodturners. Thanks for joining us, I hope you enjoy our gallery. - Flávia Pastore
